Drug Court

The Drug Court program is an intensive treatment program for drug-abusing offenders referred by the Criminal Justice System in lieu of a prison sentence. This program brings together the criminal justice and public health systems to provide treatment for offenders with a substance use disorder to reduce substance use/misuse, increase public safety, and improve the community.

ALPHA works with the Solicitor’s Offices in the Fourth and Fifth Judicial Circuits in receiving referrals for treatment services for individuals accepted into the Drug Court program and participates as a member of the overall treatment team of the program. ALPHA provides treatment services that aim at recognizing addiction as a disease and treating the thinking and behaviors associated with the substance use and criminal acts. Research has proven that participation in these types of programs can reduce recidivism and drug use. Individuals are able to enter into long term recovery and develop skills that will help them in becoming self-sufficient and a productive part of society.

  • Immediate sanctions
  • Incentives
A minimum of one year is required for the drug-offender in this program and they must admit guilt of the criminal behaviors. Participants can be discharged and seek expungement of charges with agreement of successful completion of Court and treatment team that the participant has made significant progress on the treatment plan. Treatment plans will include a certain requirement for participation in weekly treatment services, Drug Court appearances, random drug testing, participation in AA/NA meetings, and should be seeking employment.
Individuals with a history of substance use and convictions of drug related crimes are eligible to apply. Contact your attorney or the Solicitor’s Office to determine if you qualify for referral. The Solicitor’s Office has the final authority to accept or refuse applications and the judge has the final authority on any admitted applicants.

Confidentiality & CARF Accredidation

All services are considered confidential and are protected by federal law (42 CFR Part 2) and the Health Insurance Portability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.  Due to Confidentiality regulations, all individuals must sign a release of information regarding their protected health status.  Clients and parents of clients under age 16 will also be asked to sign an acknowledgement that says they have received the privacy notice.
